OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, Social and Family Affairs meets with the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan

The OIC Assistant Secretary-General, Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet met today, 20th December 2023 in Baku with H.E Mr. Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan at his office.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss a number of issues related to cooperation between the OIC and the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of youth and sports, especially after the establishment in the OIC General Secretariat of a new department devoted to youth and sports.

The two Parties congratulated each other for the mutual commitment to push bilateral collaboration ahead and exchanged views on a number of initiatives and joint actions that could be organized within the framework of the designation of the city of Shusha as OIC Youth Capital for the year 2024 and as a follow up to the outcome of the 5th meeting of the Ministers of Youth held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in September 2022.

Ambassador Tarig Bakheet thanked the Republic of Azerbaijan for its active role within the OIC bigger family and its commendable initiatives in supporting and hosting various events geared towards serving the interests of the Muslim world.

The two sides agreed to keep the channels of communication, consultation, and coordination wide open to realize the joint actions in their bilateral agenda for the coming years
