Prime Minister of Bangladesh Receives OIC Secretary-General in Jeddah

H.E. Sheikh Hasina Wazed, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, received H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, OIC Secretary-General, on the sidelines of the International Conference on “Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment,” which kicked off on 6 November 2023 in Jeddah.
Both sides stressed the importance of this Conference which aims to enhance women's rights and status. They reviewed cooperation between the OIC and Bangladesh, and the prospects for its further enhancement, as well as ways to enhance joint Islamic action. They also addressed the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and its humanitarian repercussions as well as its impacts on peace and security in the region and around the world.
The Secretary-General commended Bangladesh's commitment to defending the cause of Rohingya Muslims and the care it provides to Rohingya refugees.
For her part, Sheikh Hasina expressed her country's support for the OIC and its role in promoting joint Islamic action and unifying the efforts of Member States to serve the causes of the Muslim world.
