The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its strong condemnation of the two terrorist attacks that took place on Thursday in the Republic of Mali. One attack hit a "Timbuktu boat" in the Niger River, and the other targeted an army site in Bamba, in the Gao region. The two attacks resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians and military personnel.
The OIC General Secretariat conveyed sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims and to the government and people of the Republic of Mali.
The General Secretariat affirmed the OIC's principled position against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and renewed its full support for all efforts to counter terrorism and ensure security and stability in the Republic of Mali and the Sahel region.
