This symposium, which celebrates OIC Youth Day on September 3 each year, provided a valuable opportunity for national youth institutions from Member States to learn about OIC policies and programs for empowering youth and exchanging solutions to overcome challenges they face.
During the symposium, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, the OIC Secretary-General, delivered a speech through his representative, H.E. Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakhiet, Assistant Secretary-General for Cultural, Social and Humanitarian Affairs of the Organization. He expressed his thanks to Saudi Arabia for their efforts in chairing the Fifth Session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports and thanked the Member States and OIC organs for their contributions to the symposium.
H.E. Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Musad, Undersecretary for Sports Affairs, delivered a speech on behalf of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia and Chair of the Fifth Session of Ministers of Youth and Sports.
The symposium covered various themes, including Saudi Arabia's efforts in volunteering through the Ministry of Sports and King Salman Humanitarian Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, the Islamic Development Bank Group's approach to youth empowerment, and policies and programs in youth capacity building presented by the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).
