OIC Secretary-General Congratulates the Ummah on Eid Al-Adha

Date: 28/06/2023

On the Blessed Eid Al-Adha, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), addressed his profound and heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim Ummah on the advent of Eid Al-Adha 1444 AH. He congratulated Their Majesties, Excellencies, and Highnesses, Kings, Princes, and Presidents of the OIC Member States.

The OIC Secretary-General expressed happiness for the Eid celebrations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, currently chairing the Islamic Summit, and conveyed warm congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, HRH Prince Muhammad bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the government, and the people of Saudi Arabia.

The Secretary-General expressed his hope that the celebration of Eid would bring joy, positivity, and affection to all Member States. He also emphasized the importance of fostering love and cooperation among the OIC Member States and wished for peace and happiness to prevail during this festive occasion.

He regretted that Eid Al-Adha coincides with numerous challenges faced by several Member States, including the constant Israeli violations against the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and its attempts to undermine its status and claim it as its own. He also reiterated the OIC's unwavering support in preserving its Islamic identity and other Islamic sanctities in Al-Quds Ash-Sharif.

Brahim Taha expressed his sorrow that the Muslims' Eid during the Hajj season coincided with the ongoing crisis in the Republic of Sudan, causing difficulties for Sudanese families, including men, women, and children. He hoped that the suffering would come to an end soon and that the Sudanese people's aspirations would be fulfilled.

He mentioned that asylum also adds to residents’ challenges in camps across various Islamic countries, such as the African Sahel, Lake Chad, and Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar and other affected regions. These challenges include poverty, outbreaks of epidemics and diseases, wars, and attacks by extremist groups, resulting in the loss of human life and material possessions.

The OIC Secretary-General offered a prayer to Allah Almighty, hoping that this occasion would mark the start of a harmonious relief where the spirit of the Ummah would unite in goodness and blessings. Additionally, the Secretary-General wished for peace, stability, and prosperity to prevail in all Muslim States.
