OIC and Digital Cooperation Organization Sign MoU to Develop Sustainable Digital Economy in Member States

His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha and Her Excellency Ms. Deemah Al Yahya, Secretary-General of Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), signed at the OIC Headquarters, on 10 May 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding between the OIC and the DCO.
The MoU provides a framework of cooperation between the OIC and DCO in the development of an inclusive and sustainable digital economy, by unifying their efforts to advance digital transformation in Member States.
The parties agreed to cooperate in digitalization of human resources, to bridge the digital and ICT skills gaps and harmonize, in consultation with their respective Member States, government regulatory frameworks and other related laws to facilitate interoperability of digital data and IDs across the countries.
The MoU also aims at promoting high-quality Internet connectivity, particularly in remote and rural areas and raising awareness among key stakeholders in the public and private sectors, civil societies and business communities about the opportunities to harness the full power of big data and other emerging technologies.
Permanent Representatives to the OIC of some Member States in both OIC and DCO attended the signing ceremony.
