Secretary-General's Envoy to Afghanistan meets with Minister of Education of the Afghan-de facto authority

During his current visit to the Afghan capital, Kabul the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhit, on Tuesday, March 7, 2022, met with Mawlawi Habiballah Agha, Minister of Education of the Afghan-de facto Authority.


‏The envoy stressed that the meeting with the Minister of Education came within the framework of following up on the implementation of the final communique of the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee on humanitarian developments and situation in Afghanistan, which called for the importance of reconsidering the recent decisions taken by the Afghan de facto authorities towards women's work and girls' education.

For his part, the minister affirmed the commitment and endeavour of his ministry to provide a safe environment for girls' education and review of the educational curricula, noting the importance of OIC Member States support for the education infrastructure in Afghanistan.
