The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, visited the headquarters of the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) in Islamabad on 12 December 2022, during his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Upon his visit, the Secretary General received a briefing on the programs and forthcoming activities of COMSTECH by its Coordinator General, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary who welcomed the Secretary-General on his maiden visit to the COMSTECH Headquarters.
Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha expressed his appreciation to the Coordinator General and his team at the COMSTECH for their important contribution in promoting science and technology among Member States, which the Secretary-General noted as a critical ingredient for the socio-economic development of the OIC region and beyond.
The Secretary-General further commended the host country, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its deep commitment and generous contribution to the functioning of the COMSTECH Headquarters, which was established in Islamabad since 1981.
