H.E. the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, received on 19 September 2022 at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the OIC in New York, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Mr. Rashad Hussain, United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom.
During this meeting, aspects of relations between the OIC and the United States were reviewed in light of the Strategic Dialogue meetings, the first round of which was held in Washington, DC last May, while the two sides stressed their common desire to further support dialogue and cooperation between them.
They also exchanged views on the situation of Muslim communities and minorities in non-OIC Member States, the phenomenon of Islamophobia and religious freedom.
