As part of the continuous endeavors to strengthen the capacities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in election observation in the Member States and the implementation of the elections-related activities scheduled in the joint action plan with the United Nations, the OIC General Secretariat (Election Observation Unit), in cooperation and coordination with the United Nations Electoral Assistance Division (UNAED) and the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organizes a workshop entitled: Training Workshop on Election Observation (BRIDGE Methodology) for the OIC Observers’ Group, on July 24-26, 2022.
The workshop aims to raise the electoral knowledge and capabilities of the OIC’s team and improve the performance of the OIC’s election observation missions to contribute to the Member States’ efforts to ensure transparent and credible elections.
Twenty-five observers from various departments of the General Secretariat participated in this workshop using the "BRIDGE Methodology.” Standing for “Building Resources in Democracy, Governance, and Elections’. This methodology is based on participatory adult learning principles combined with a distinctive values-based approach centered on specific electoral principles. It relies mainly on interactive activities between the participants.
