OIC Celebrates "Africa Day", Affirms its Continued Commitment to Support the Countries of the Continent

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participates with its Member States from the African Group, the African Union and the countries of the whole world, in the commemoration of the "Africa Day" which falls on 25th May of each year, in remembrance of the foundation day of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on 25th May 1963, whose name was subsequently changed to the African Union (AU) in 2002.

The OIC appreciates the social, cultural and economic achievements of the African continent, which is rich in the diversity of its natural resources, cultural heritage and common noble values ​​among the peoples of the African continent. The OIC affirms its unwavering commitment to mobilizing efforts to provide support of all kinds to the peoples of the continent with the aim of contributing to the development of the economies of the OIC Member States from the African continent, as a contribution to the development of their structures and infrastructure and the advancement of the vital sectors of these countries in various fields including education, agriculture, science and technology, media, culture and social affairs.

The OIC will spare no effort, along with all its offices, standing committees and subsidiary, specialized and affiliated institutions spread across the continent of Africa and other continents of the world, in pursuit of directing its various development projects that it offers to serve the development goals in the African continent. In addition to these endeavours, efforts are exerted by the OIC institutions such as the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), and the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) and its Waqf, all of which are consistent with the same purpose in consolidating the objectives of the Charter of the OIC and all its instruments.
