Secretary-General Attends MoU Signing Ceremony between Gambia and the Islamic Broadcasting Union and the Union of OIC News Agencies

Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, participated in the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between the Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure of the Republic of The Gambia and the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) and the Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU) at the OIC General Secretariat, Jeddah on Tuesday, 15 February 2022. The objective is to coordinate management of the information center that will provide media coverage for the Islamic summit to be hosted by the Republic of The Gambia this year.

The Secretary-General commended in this regarded the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the OIC host country, to both UNA and IBU through hosting their headquarters and providing them with all facilities to support joint Islamic action.

The Secretary-General also applauded the efforts of the Republic of The Gambia, host of the 15th Islamic Summit, to provide favorable conditions for the success of the summit, including providing comprehensive coverage of the summit events by collaborating with OIC media institutions.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by HE Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure of the Republic of The Gambia, Mr Ebrima Sillah and Dr Amr El-Leithy IBU Director General and Mr Mohammad Abd Rabbo Al-Yami, Acting Director General of UNA, with Mr Yankuba Diba, head of the secretariat supervising the Islamic Summit conference in the Gambia, in attendance.
