The Palestinian Consul General said that we have to bear in mind that the OIC represents the collective voice of more than one and a half billion Muslims and that its charter includes more than one article referring particularly to the need for coordinated action to safeguard and liberate the holy places and to support the Palestinian people in their struggle to regain their rights and their territories.

Amb. AlAssadi went on to indicate that the Palestinian cause is facing a vicious onslaught, and that under the current difficult situation, there is an urgent need to stimulate the tools of resistance and to hold on to the weapon of Arabo-Islamic solidarity to face up to the increasing difficulties and challenges which threaten the Arab identity of AlQuds/Jerusalem, particularly in the wake of the American administration’s recognition of AlQuds as a capital of Israel and the transferring of their embassy there.

On his part, Ambassador Maher Karki, the Palestinian permanent representative to the OIC, said that the convening of the meeting of the Member States’ permanent representatives on the issue of the Jewish nationality law, confirms that the cause of Palestine and AlQuds AlSharif occupies front stage among the OIC priorities.

Mr. Karki evoked a number of Israeli aggressions perpetrated against the Palestinian people, foremost of which the attempts to judaize AlQuds/Jerusalem, to expand colonialist settlements, along with the ceaseless violations against the defenseless Palestinian citizens, and the longstanding siege on Gaza, as well as the ethnic cleansing exercise. He further noted that all of these preparations represented a strategic onslaught on the rights of the Palestinian people.
