The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the attacks perpetrated on 31 October in the Mopti region against the convoy of the High Court President, Mr. Abdrahamane Niang, and the two other attacks against the Defence and Security Forces of Burkina Faso on the border between Mali and Burkina-Faso. The attacks claimed the lives of five members of the Malian armed forces and wounded many others.
OIC Secretary General Dr. Youssef A. Al-Othaimeen, offered his condolences to the families of the soldiers killed in the attack and wished speedy recovery to the President of the High Court of Justice of Mali and to the other wounded, as well as to the victims of the attacks committed against the Forces of Burkina Faso.
The Secretary General urged the authorities of Mali and Burkina-Faso to lead a joint action to bring the perpetrators of terrorist attacks to justice.
Dr. Al-Othaimeen reiterated the OIC’s commitment to supporting states facing terrorism and affirmed that the current situation requires that efforts be combined to ensure the urgent functioning of the G5-Sahel Joint Force with a view to eradicating this plight and ensuring the stability of the states of the region.
