The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) considered the American airstrike on Syrian military targets a natural and expected response to the Syrian regime’s chemical attack that killed scores of innocent civilians, including children and women, in an endless series of brutal, criminal and inhumane acts perpetrated against Syrians in gross violation of the international law.
The OIC held the regime responsible for these military operations due to its continuing acts of bloody anddestructive aggressions against Syrians, defying the international community by using internationally prohibited weapons, and completely disregarding all regional and international initiatives for a political solution to the crisis that would end the Syrian people’s suffering and meet their legitimate aspirations to freedom and justice, as outlined in the Geneva I talks.
The OIC called on the international community to take serious steps to end the Syrian crisis so that peace and stability prevails in the country and the region as a whole.
