The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned strongly the Israeli occupation Government’s approval of the construction of 900 new settlement units in the occupied East Jerusalem. It stated that the continued policy of the construction and expansion of Israeli colonial settlements is a blatant violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and a grave breach of relevant international resolutions and covenants. The OIC Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani, added that settlement operations are aimed at establishing facts on the ground with a view to perpetuating Israeli occupation and isolating the city of Al-Quds from its Palestinian surroundings, calling on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and play its role in ending these violations.
