OIC Organizes Roundtable Discussion on the Role of Civil Society in Electoral Processes

In collaboration with the United Nations Electoral Assistance Division (UNEAD), the OIC General Secretariat organized a Roundtable Discussion on the Role of Civil Society and Domestic Observer Groups in Enhancing the Integrity of Electoral Processes during the period of 27-29 July 2015. Besides UNEAD experts and OIC professional staffs, election experts from the League of Arab States (LAS), National Democratic institute (NDI), Organization of American States (OAS) and civil society organizations involved in the electoral from Indonesia, Lebanon, Nigeria, Tunisia, Colombia and the Philippines participated in this three days long exercise and shared their respective experiences on the role of civil society in electoral process. Speakers and participants also had the opportunity to discuss and analyze the electoral processes being followed in different parts of the world from different perspectives. This gave the participants an in depth views on the entire electoral process which could be useful in the future Election Observation Missions of the OIC.
